TEACHING PRINCIPALSHIP FOR BABINE ELEMENTARY SECONDARY SCHOOL
Applications are invited for the Teaching Principalship of Babine Elementary Secondary School, Granisle, BC. The start date for this position is effective August 1, 2023.

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT:
Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut’en and Wet’suweten peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC. We serve 3000 students in our standard schools and another 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Demonstrated ability as an effective instructional leader, with successful administrative experience;
- A willingness to work collaboratively with staff, parents, First Nations and the community to develop leadership that enhances student achievement;
- Awareness and sensitivity to current educational issues, reflective professional practice and the changing nature of instruction;
- Demonstrated knowledge of current research in instructional practices related to early literacy and numeracy;
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective behaviour support systems and practices;
- Demonstrated knowledge of special education and current teaching strategies and programs to support learning assistance and special education students;
- Demonstrated ability as a team-builder and team-player, and in strengthening/maintaining a Professional Learning Community;
- Demonstrated knowledge of current assessment strategies and practices;
- Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing strategic school planning that aligns with the District's Strategic goals;
- Commitment to school/community involvement;
- Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous culture and learning, as well as a successful history of building positive and meaningful relationships that focus on student success;
- Knowledge of school contractual and budgetary matters and working knowledge of Office 365; and
- Completed, working on or committed to completing a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
BABINE ELEMENTARY SECONDARY SCHOOL:
- Approximately 37 FTE students (K-12); (70% Indigenous students); 9 teaching and non-teaching staff members;
- Located in Granisle, BC;
- An active, involved Parent Advisory Council plays an important role in supporting and developing a healthy school community.
COMPENSATION:
- Current salary grid is $136,890 - $144,639
- Monthly housing allowance and moving reimbursement.
