
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE SHUTTLE DRIVER - CASUAL
There is a position available for a Casual Before and After School Care Shuttle Driver with School District No. 60. Applications will be accepted online via the website on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
Reporting to District Staff, this position is responsible for transporting school aged children to and from before and after school care.
Hours of Work: As needed
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing on an "as needed" basis
Work Base Year: 12 Months
Commencing Salary: $22.04/hr.
Duties to be assigned include:
- Safely operates the shuttle under a variety of road and weather conditions, for the purpose of transporting students.
- Ensures that the shuttle is road worthy by performing a pre and post trip inspection each day and records the findings on a pre-trip inspection report sheet.
- Promptly reports any mechanical and/or safety device defects or vandalism on the shuttle to the Working Foreman, Dispatcher, Transportation Supervisor, or Supervisor.
- Familiarizes children with safety regulations and procedures and performs emergency evacuation drills as directed.
- Keep the assigned shuttle in sanitary condition by cleaning the inside and outside of the shuttle as necessary and by disinfecting the inside at lease once each week.
- Administers minor first aid.
- Follows all Motor Vehicle Act legislation.
- Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the work site is safe and secure, that equipment and vehicles are operated according to set standards.
- Ensure safe handling of hazardous materials (WHMIS) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.
- Performs other departmental related duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Grade 10 or equivalency
- Minimum Class 4 (unrestricted) Drivers License
- Clean Drivers Abstract
- Ability to work independently and set priorities
- W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provide by the District to be completed within the probationary period
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
- Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
