Position Description
A temporary full-time (1.0) District Teacher Teaching on Call (DTTOC) teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. The assignment will be dispatched from the Board Office. All DTTOC's are assigned a default school to which they will work out off on the rare days in which they are not dispatched to a specific placement.
DTTOC's are required to go to any and all placements in which they are dispatched, as such DTTOC's must have access to reliable transportation.
This position includes a variety of TTOC coverage, which can include long-term placements. For longer term placements, the TTOC may be responsible for lesson preparation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
- Preference will be given to teachers with experience &/or education
in 1 or more of the following areas: Special Ed, French, Music, Fine
Arts, and Shop
- Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
- Experience teaching primary, intermediate/middle school/secondary students
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Wiling to work with team on common literacy in the classroom
- Willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals into classroom
- Collaboration and and working with a team
- Ability to use performance standards in the area of social responsibility
- Cognizant of the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the new curriculum
- Computer related skills and willingness to incorporate ibooks into regular classroom instruction
- Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques
- Experience teaching in a multiage group setting
- Strong classroom management skills
- Training in teaching ELL and FASD students
- Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional learning difficulties
- Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement plan and with professional development
- Working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, and Blended/structured writing process
- Experience working with behavior students
- Experience/training/knowledge of Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

Compensation
- $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
- $2,761 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
- Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $59,478 - $101,425
- Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in
medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are
employer paid based on FTE
