Summary of the Opportunity

Join the HomeLearners’ Network (HLN), an exciting new program of SelfDesign Learning Foundation.

We are seeking experienced, provincially certified, online educators to assist with the development and hosting of live-streamed, virtual educational activities.

As an online educator, you will be responsible for creating, designing and facilitating engaging, meaningful and fun live online activities for learners at the K-6 level. These live online activities are focused on learning and exploring new skills and interests. The goal is that activities supplement learners’ education, it is not academically driven.

This contract opportunity is highly flexible. You can plan and offer single session activities, series, and camps. The number of activities and frequency of delivery are negotiated based on your availability and the needs of our learners.

HLN’s online educators work collaboratively to develop topics for activities, focusing on a range of fun topics. We are seeking educators with experience in STEM, Drama/Theater and Music. View our live, online activities here including current activities and the About Us page to learn more.

We actively encourage applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity.

Work Environment

We currently run activities Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm Pacific.

You set your own hours of work, between the business hours noted above. You also need to be available for occasional online meetings during these same hours. Meetings are scheduled in advance.

Timelines

We are actively looking for educators to join us starting ASAP through to July 31, with the possibility of extension. Typically, contracts start in August and run through July. These contracts can be more flexible and for shorter time-frames depending on the contractor’s availability and organizational needs.
