DISTRICT - STUDENT ENGAGEMENT FACILITATOR 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or an associated discipline.

2. Four (plus) years of experience working with children & youth, or in a social work, youth corrections or youth outreach role.

3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with schools, district personnel, families and community agencies.

5. Current training and experience using strategies related to self-regulation, mental wellness and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. (CPI)

6. Demonstrated aptitude to work with students with behavioural, social and health issues.

7. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, to work independently and as a member of a team.

8. Ability to maintain privacy and to respect the confidential nature of all information relating to pupils, parents and teachers.

9. Demonstrated understanding of professional boundaries.
10. Ability to perform work remotely using district supported technology, i.e. Microsoft Teams, GAFE.

11. Valid driver’s license and own transportation.

JOB GOAL: To support school engagement, positive social interactions and healthy behaviours in students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with and under the direction of Administration and School Based Team, the Student Engagement Facilitator will:

1. Support student engagement with school.

2. Support goals, objectives and strategies as listed in a student’s IEP.

3. Maintain confidential records of communication and actions as per district policies and regulations.

4. Respect confidentiality and professional boundaries.

5. Support students through various transitions.

6. Follow district work alone procedure.

7. Follow policies and expectations as outlined by School District 62 (Sooke).
