Temporary Teaching Position (1.0 FTE)

Immediately to Return of Incumbent



The position may include other assigned duties and starts immediately.

Interested elementary teachers who are a member or who are eligible to become a member of the Teacher Regulation Branch are invited to apply.  The teaching assignment includes Officer in Charge, and may include Grades K – 7 instruction.

Teachers with a demonstrated commitment to:

  1. Developing a positive student centered learning environment;
  2. Awareness of First Peoples Principles of Learning;
  3. Cooperating with parents and peers;
  4. Sound knowledge of technologies and their educational application;
  5. Knowledge of sound intervention skills for behavior and cognitive difficulties.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  1. Training and experience in primary level instruction;
  2. Experience in teaching First Nations students at the primary and intermediate level;
  3. Training and experience in a Multi-Graded classroom;
  4. Have the capability to work independently in an isolated educational environment;
  5. Willingness to perform administrative duties, such as on site supervision.

Training or interest in the field of Special Education would be an asset to the applicant.  A demonstrated ability to design, adapt, and modify curriculum to suit diverse needs is required.  Candidates should be committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques.  Preference will be given to teachers familiar with, and aware of local First Nation cultures.
