Manager of Information
Technology for Learning

The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities.  To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $250 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology for Learning, the Manager of Information Technology For Learning will work with staff and stakeholders to oversee the implementation of enterprise IT systems in order to improve technology for students and staff, focusing on service quality and best of class technology integration.

As a member of the IT for Learning Management Team, duties include: leading and coaching staff to support their technical and professional excellence; managing and supporting the work of infrastructure, network and endpoint teams; planning and executing projects according to scope, deadlines, and budget; leading by example though collaboration in the spirit of service to others.

An expert knowledge of enterprise systems, experience and proficiency in project leadership, and an understanding of existing and emerging technologies is required, as well as an extremely high level of competency in managing technology teams and IT service management methodologies. Experience with Microsoft and Cisco technologies, student information systems, applied knowledge of frameworks, project management methodologies and experience in managing within an enterprise public sector environment is a definite asset.

Minimum requirements include a B.Sc. in Computer Science or related discipline, four to six years management experience within a technically complex organization, and demonstrated experience with leading a team to successful outcomes. Stellar communication and teamwork skills are essential.
