Head of School

 

Boundary Bay Montessori School is operated by the Montessori in Delta Society (MIND), a non-profit organization with an elected board that is comprised of nominated members. BBMS is a Group 1 Independent School that began in 1990 and is currently centrally located at 3800 72nd Street, close to Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta/South Surrey. The school is situated in a pastoral setting with a wonderful view of the Cascade Mountains in the background. BBMS offers quality educational programs that remain true to the spirit of Dr. Montessori’s philosophy of education to help equip children with the tools necessary to become global citizens while allowing their unique personalities to unfold. Currently the school offers Montessori education to children 2 ½ -12 years in Casa (3-6), Lower (6-9) & Upper (9-12) Elementary levels. We are seeking a motivated and experienced educational leader who will collaborate with faculty, Board and parents to guide the future growth of the school.

PERSONAL AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Have experience in a Montessori educational organization(s)

• Minimum of 5 years of educational experience; leadership experience included 

• Previous experience working with or in an BC organization that holds an elementary school and/or child care centre and educational programming

• Possess an understanding of and a commitment to high academic standards within the BC Ministry of Education-Independent Schools

• Master’s Degree in Education, Organizational or Montessori Leadership, or equivalent

• Valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certification

• Leadership skills with experience managing budget

• Be a highly collaborative, results-oriented, adaptable, problem-solving self-starter who seeks feedback to continue professional growth

• Values process and continual need for understanding individuals and situations

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Be positive, thoughtful, passionate, motivating, and empowering with staff and community

• Be organized and computer literate, with proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs, etc.

• Must be able to be legally employed in Canada

AREAS OF GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY

• Hold the title of Head of School with the BC MOECC

• Work effectively with the Board Members of MIND

• Work effectively with Fraser Health Licensing

• Promote and oversee financial performance and viability

• Promote organization mission and strategic goals

• Work effectively within the organization operations

• Collaborative oversight and evaluation of curriculum development

• Support effective admissions and enrollment practices

• Coordinate effective Human Resource practices

• Focus on oversight of daily operations and campus development

TERMS AND COMPENSATION:

• Full-time (1.0FTE) 12-month contract

• Competitive Salary based on qualifications, experience and role
