POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Vice-Principal - Library Services or designate, the Library Technician performs library support involving assistance in the provision of circulation, reference, catalogue, resource and other services in a school library. 

New assignments are accompanied by some instruction and the incumbent will be asked to perform these tasks with relative independence. Work is expected to be accurate and complete. This position requires strong customer service and a very high level of resilience. 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent, supplemented by a Certificate or diploma from a recognized technical college (or equivalent) as a Library Assistant or Library Technician. A minimum of 2 years’ recent library experience, including recent experience working with adult learners and/or students either in a workplace or volunteer position. A Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. As well, incumbents also require the following:

The current salary rate is $23.78 per hour with an additional 8% of straight time in lieu of statutory and non-statutory benefits.
