Position Description
A temporary full time (1.0) Intermediate Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. The assignment will be at Wonowon Elementary/Jr Secondary School.
Wonowon is a rural elementary school located at mile 101 of the historic Alaska Highway, 85 km north of Fort St John. The school has four teachers, one of whom acts as head teacher. Wonowon Elementary receives district library and administrative support. Wonowon has a student population of 45, many of whom are of Russian-German background. Qualifications and Experience
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
- Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
- Willingness to work in a remote rural setting
- Willingness to work outdoors in winter months
- Experience teaching in multiage group settings
- Experience working with English Language Learners (ELL)
- Strong leadership, organizational and classroom management skills
- Willingness to work closely with the school team to develop and
implement individualized learning plans for students with academic,
social, emotional, behavioural or developmental difficulties
- Willingness to develop individualized and group instruction,
utilizing a variety of strategies and techniques, i.e. differentiated
instruction, Project Based Learning (PBL), Universal Design for Learning
(UDL)
- Willingness to communicate and develop trusting relations with students, staff and community
- Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an asset
- Strong computer elated skills and an ability to integrate technology into the learning environment
- Ability to work in a collaborative model with staff on the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning (school improvement plan)
- Commitment to continuous professional learning
- Need to have a drivers license and vehicle
- Experience with winter driving would be an asset

Compensation
- $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
- $2,674 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
- Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $54,410 - 97,815
- Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
- Isolation allowance of $1050.20 paid over 10 months
