PERMANENT FULL-TIME PLUMBER

As an employer, we provide comprehensive growth, learning and engagement opportunities to our committed professionals across the district.  We are currently looking for a full-time, permanent Plumber to join our Facilities Services department to perform work as assigned at the journeyperson level across the district’s 53 facilities. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Installing, upgrading, repairing, and testing plumbing components, equipment and systems such as sanitary, storm, potable, natural gas, propane, compressed air and sprinkler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Responding to plumbing and piping emergencies throughout the district facilities.
• Develops manual plans, sketches and drawings for the purpose of job layouts, permit applications, and estimating time and materials required to complete the work.
• Provides technical advice and information to District staff as required.
• Operates a district vehicle and maintains the vehicle’s plumbing equipment and materials inventory as necessary.
• Performs other job related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required.

Required Qualifications

Grade 12 or equivalent plus a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Apprenticeship in Plumbing or equivalent apprenticeship training and a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.);

• Two (2) years’ experience at a Journeyperson level in commercial or institutional service work, including maintenance, repair and installation of commercial and industrial equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures, and equipment applicable to the plumbing trade.
• Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

This is a unionized position that offers a 40-hour work week with an hourly wage of $38.59, plus a comprehensive benefit package including Municipal Pension, health, vacation, and sick benefits.
