POSITION
Worksite: East Chilliwack Elementary School

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
• extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in all areas of this assignment knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
• training and successful experience in teaching students using BC Ministry of Education Redesigned Curriculum
• demonstrated ability to plan for and teach all required subjects at posted grade level
• demonstrated commitment to the inclusion of students with diverse abilities
• knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a comprehensive literacy program including Guided Reading
• preference will be given to individuals who are familiar with and willing to use daily small group instruction as part of comprehensive literacy and numeracy programs
• knowledge and demonstrated ability in using sound teaching and assessment practices exemplified in SMART learning, Reading Power and Writing Power, SNAP; familiarity with the ACT assessment
• demonstrated ability to support school goals such as partnering with the community to provide meaningful learning experiences for students including Place Based Learning and Service Learning
• demonstrated effective classroom organizational and instructional skills to meet student social and emotional needs
• excellent skills and experience in all areas of classroom management and the promotion of a positive and effective classroom learning environment
• knowledge of and proven experience in using current assessment practices to allow students to show what they know and to guide instruction
• knowledge of methods for differentiating instructional materials to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of a diverse group of students
• possess strong digital literacy skills and proven ability to apply them as instructional tools to support students’ learning needs
• knowledge of and commitment to support PBS, school-wide initiatives
• working knowledge of Social Emotional Learning, including Zones of Regulation and restorative practices
• proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
• commitment and willingness to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration in order to support all students through an RTI system
