All Schools K-12 Teacher On-Call Opportunities

Internal/External

Are you new to the teaching profession and wanting to get your feet wet in teaching?   Are you a veteran teacher looking for a bit of a break from the grind of the regular classroom?  Are you looking for an opportunity to be a teacher-on-call but still enjoy the outdoors (rock climbing, photography, kayaking, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting)?   School District #49 (Central Coast) is currently looking for qualified teachers-on-call.   Our qualified teacher-on-call list is quite small in number and with an active teaching force attending conferences, needing medical appointments, attending community events/meetings, and illness we are in great need for qualified teachers to be on our teacher-on-call list.

School District #49 (Central Coast) offers the perfect opportunity for the new and veteran teacher.   We boast an excellent lifestyle, change of pace option where you can TOC at a variety of grade levels or a variety of subject areas thus gaining valuable experience that might not be available in larger school districts all while being able to get out and enjoy what the Great Bear Rainforest has to offer in terms of recreational opportunities.

School District #49 (Central Coast) is a progressive rural district located in Hagensborg, British Columbia.  Our schools offer StrongStart, pre-school, Nuxalk culture, alternate and adult programs, carving, band and multi-media programs to name a few.

Candidates are expected to have:

  • Knowledge of effective teaching practices and current BC curriculum;
  • Strong working knowledge in the area of science;
  • Experience in working with First Nations Education;
  • Membership in the B.C. College of Teachers;
  • Experience in a cross cultural environment;
  • Ability and commitment to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents and community.

Applications containing details of education, experience and references are currently being accepted and should be submitted to:
