Hastings is a large dual track school with 13 French divisions and 14 English divisions. Hastings enjoys a rich cultural diversity and an active parent community. The school library program is primarily based on collaboratively planned and taught units of study developed through the shared expertise and equal partnership of classroom teachers and teacher-librarians.  The principles of resource-based learning are incorporated at all levels of the program to achieve the educational goals of the school.


The Teacher-Librarian:

  • Places a priority of staff relationships and leadership in the implementation of change
  • Knows curriculum programs mandated by the province, district and school
  • Uses appropriate information technology to acquire, organize and disseminate information
  • Manages the school library and library programs, services and staff to support the stated educational goals of the school
  • Evaluates library program and services


  • Degree/diploma in Teacher-Librarianship, or enrolled in courses for a degree/diploma in Teacher-Librarianship is required
  • Classroom teaching experience an asset
  • Experience in the selection, management and utilization of learning resources
  • Experience in managing a school library and working with teachers to design and implement resource-based instructional programs
  • Native or native-like fluency in both oral French and written French is required, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required
  • Library prep will be for both English and French classes
