The Catholic Independent Schools Kamloops Diocese is inviting applications for the position of Principal of St. Ann’s School for the upcoming 2020/21 school year. This position may have a teaching assignment. The school is located in the beautiful Cariboo Country of British Columbia. St. Ann’s School enrolls approximately 125 students from kindergarten to grade seven and serves the St. Ann’s Parish community. The position is anticipated to commence August 1, 2020.

The Principal has a critical role to play in the life of this Catholic school community. As the faith and educational leader of the school, the Principal provides leadership for the school community and works collaboratively with the Pastor, the School Council, the Parish and the CISKD Office of the Superintendent. The Principal is responsible for all administrative duties with the school in accordance with CISKD policies and administrative applications. The Principal reports to the Superintendent of Schools and indirectly, to the CISKD Board of Directors.

The CISKD is seeking a dynamic Catholic leader to inspire community in providing faith-based, inspirational education. The successful, ideal candidate shall:

  • be an active practicing Catholic engaged with their parish
  • possess a valid BC Teaching Certificate
  • have a minimum of five years successful teaching experience, preferably in BC Catholic elementary schools. This experience should be sufficiently broad so as to allow for effective leadership across a wide variety of domains
  • have a Master degree (or working toward) in a field relevant to Catholic education
  • be committed to developing ‘an evangelizing school community which fosters a personal relationship with Jesus in the family of the Church’
  • guide students in the ‘pursuit of truth, beauty and goodness within the Catholic intellectual tradition’
  • have proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to strategically engage and network with all members of the school community
  • possess successful experience in developing, monitoring and executing the annual school budget with stakeholders
  • demonstrate a strong understanding and application of CISKD and BC Ministry of Education priorities, policies, and procedures
  • effectively lead teachers in responding to the BC Ministry of Education redesigned curriculum within CISKD planning framework
  • model and supervise best practice in instructional planning, assessment and evaluation
  • demonstrate a commitment to ongoing Professional Development, aligned with the School Learning Improvement Plan, CISKD and Ministry priorities
  • demonstrate commitment and competency in student recruitment and retention

 

Additional Requirements (that can be completed following employ)

  • BC Catholic School Leadership Course (July)
  • Foundations of the Faith Program
  • Further evidence of lifelong learning (ex., courses in Religious Education or Theology or Catholic Educational Leadership, UBC Short Course (or equivalent), etc.)
