Position Description

A temporary part time (0.3125) Foods/Library teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective immediately until June 30, 2021.  The assignment will be at Hudson's Hope Elementary/Jr Secondary School.

Hudson’s Hope School is a close community composed of students ages 0 years to grade twelve.  Many of our students enjoy their entire educational experience with the same peer group over their time at HHS.  The age range within the school allows for incredible intergenerational teaching and learning experiences for our students. Our school is nestled in the Peace River valley, within walking distance of the Peace River, and a short drive to the School District’s Cameron Lake Outdoor Education Center.  Our talented staff, location, and outstanding amenities allow us to provide numerous unique opportunities to connect with the natural world. Hudson’s Hope School boasts an amazing outdoor education program, an indoor top-rope climbing wall, and an Equine Studies/Natural Horsemanship program. Qualifications and Experience

  •  Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)

  • Experience with providing programs with the subject areas would be an asset

  • Experience teaching intermediate/secondary age students

  • Experience teaching culinary arts

  • Ability to use performance standards in the area of social responsibility

  • Cognizant of the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the new curriculum

  • Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques

  • Experience teaching in a multiage group setting

  • Strong classroom management skillsTraining in teaching ELL and FASD students

  • Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional learning difficulties

  • Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement plan and with professional development

  • Working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance BasedAssessment, Balanced Literacy, and Blended/structured writing process

  • Experience working with children with special needs

  • Experience/training/knowledge of Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

  •  Three (3) references

  •  Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) 

 

Compensation

  • $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.

  • $2,622 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)

  • Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $50,623 - $95,897

  • Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.

  • Isolation allowance of $589.04 paid over 10 months
