Seabird Island Community School is seeking to fill the position of a K4 teacher. We believe that kindergarten readiness requires indicators of success in social, emotional, physical, spiritual and cognitive domains. It also requires a predatory information plan prior to admission to the formal kindergarten program to achieve the greatest success possible for each student.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Instruction and delivery of curriculum in keeping with the BC Ministry of Education revised Early Learning framework (2019); Play Today: BC Handbook (2019) and the literacy content provided by our Model Schools Literacy Project • Delivering the minimum instructional hours for each subject taught as required by BC Ministry of Education standards • Meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines • Delivering literacy content with the support and guidance of the Model Schools Literacy Project coaches • Preparation for School wide assessments: i.e. FSA and CAT 4 • Lesson preparation • Year Plan preparation • Taking and reporting attendance of students • Development of Individual Education Plans with special education teacher • Carrying out instruction of Individual Education Plans with required adaptations and modifications
• Assessment and exam oversight
Education / Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Education with a specialization in primary grades.
Must be a B.C. Certified Teacher Experience instructing K4 Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in addressing a wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs of children in K4. Must be a B.C. Certified Teacher Excellent classroom management, behavioral management and organizational skills Training and experience in successfully using a variety of resources to teach K4 Maintains and promotes working relationships with community professionals. Participates in the ongoing planning, development and extension of services. Collaborating with teachers to develop more effective strategies to work with special needs students. Willingness to contribute to a positive school culture by volunteering in extracurricular activities. High professional and ethical standards Able to adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Seabird Island School Policies and Procedures Experience working with First Nations community would be an asset Class 5 driver’s license and access to reliable transportation Satisfactory Criminal Records Checks
