Grade 10-12  Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher

Position Summary: 

The ideal candidate profile for this semester based, part-time position is someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast paced and driven environment; enjoys a challenge, consistently meets, or exceeds, expectations; possesses a strong customer service focus and a “can do” attitude; and instinctively knows who his or her target audience is and how to effectively “speak” to that demographic. 


Reporting to the High School PrincipalLaSalle College Vancouver, the incumbent will participate in the rollout of our new high school program.


In this pivotal and exciting role, your goal will be to inspire and motivate incredibly talented individuals to pursue their dream of a career in the creative arts while equipping them with the math and science skills they need to make that happen.

Key Job Responsibilities: 

Develop and execute lesson plans that are consistent with, and meet the learning objectives of, a Language Arts, Social Studies curriculum at the Grade 10-12 level 

  • Participate in curriculum development by suggesting enhancements to program content and program offerings 

  • Provide exceptional classroom instruction that motivates and inspires your students to consistently produce their best work 

  • Maintain high academic standards by promoting teaching excellence and professional integrity 

  • Share learning objectives, evaluation methods and grading across a variety of platforms 

  • Supervise exams and the completion of student assignments 

  • Submit grades and student work in a timely manner 

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

Job Requirements: 


  Bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of student

  A valid BC Teaching Certificate

  Experience utilizing a broad range of effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs to your students

  Recent successful, substantive teaching or practical experience in the relevant subject area 



  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills 

  • Supervisor problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills 

  • Action and results orientated 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a range of populations 

  • Effective team and partnering skills
