The North Vancouver School District is currently hiring qualified elementary school teachers on part-time and full-time contracts Successful candidates may be placed into classroom assignments where available, or may be required to fill absences on a day-to-day or extended basis until a suitable classroom teaching position is available.   

Our ideal candidates have a passion for teaching and inspire learning in all of our students.  We are looking for teachers who are excellent communicators, organizers and collaborators and who make a positive difference in our schools.

**Please Note this is for the current 2020/21 School year and all successful applicants will have access to the internal 2021/22 School Year postings and put on the TTOC list for the 2021/22 school year.  



We offer extremely competitive total compensation, which includes full seniority accrual and a generous benefits package for all contract teachers, regardless of FTE.  Some contract provisions that are unique to North Vancouver include that teachers in a temporary assignment who have over 1 year of seniority are converted to continuing statusan opportunity each spring for continuing teachers to request a full time or part time assignment for the following school year; and porting of unlimited sick leave from other public-school districts in BCWe offer a wide range of professional development and other learning opportunities, as well as a variety of other unique employee incentives.

  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and organizational skills. 

  • Displays social-emotional competencies of self-awareness, empathy, flexibility, relationship-building and responsible decision-making. 

  • Within a collaborative environment, develop a comprehensive understanding of curriculum with the ability to influence instruction, assessment, indigenous education and social-emotional learning practices. 

  • Ability to implement effective strategies to engage and support academic success for all learners in an inclusive environment 

  • Experience in designing and applying various assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress. 

  • Committed to professional development with a desire to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies to provide a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience. 

  • Demonstrated ability to apply relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning. 

  • Collaborates with students, parents and staff to enhance the school as a learning community. 



  • A Bachelor of Education Degree Elementary 

  • A valid BC Teaching certificate or eligibility for certification through the BC Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) 

  • Successful experience teaching at the Elementary level.
