Our Lady of the Assumption School, 2255 Fraser Avenue, Port Coquitlam, is seeking an enthusiastic, faith-filled teacher for September 2020 to June 2021. The successful candidate should be familiar with inquiry based learning, the BC curriculum's big ideas, effective assessment practices and strategies to encourage students to develop their core competencies. The position will involve teaching in an intermediate classroom 3 days a week and the other 2 days in a Mission & Ministry role, leading students in faith formation (including retreats, Adoration, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd) and fostering appreciation for the transcendentals of Truth, Beauty and Goodness in our school community. Candidates should have the ability to work in a job-share position and have experience working with resource teachers and education assistants. Preferred candidates will have Level 1 and 2 certification in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and experience in primary and intermediate sacramental preparation. Involvement in leading staff spiritual professional development and familiarity with fostering parish/school connections through community programs (including Archdiocesan initiatives such as Alpha and CCO Discovery) would be an asset. Candidates should have an openness to assisting in our school's extra-curricular programs (Basketball, Volleyball, Choir, Drama, etc.) The deadline for applications is June 1st.
