(Full-time, exempt, maternity leave coverage, up to 15-months commencing February 2019)
Responsible for providing administrative assistance and support to the Secretary Treasurer /CFO, you will assist with planning and managing the day-to-day activities in support of the North Vancouver Board of Education. Along with providing highly confidential administrative support to the Executive and Corporate Services departments, you will prepare background material and conduct research on a variety of School District governance matters, legal matters, and freedom of information requests.
You will liaise with trustees, elected representatives, government officials, the school district staff, community organizations and the general public, responding to general information requests regarding district policies, educational programs, and events. Working as part of a team with other executive assistants, you will provide support to the team.
You will be responsible for collecting and recording confidential and detailed information with regard to Board meetings, freedom of information requests, legal and contract matters. You will be responsible for maintaining various data bases related to annual events and reporting requirements. Organizing special events and coordinating resources for meetings will also fall under your portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have two years of post-secondary education and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an administrative role. The key to your success includes being able to work independently and take initiative while being able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Other qualifications include exemplary document creation/editing, creating and working with spreadsheets and presentations, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
