School District No. 83 is current seeking:

 

 Français Langue and Spanish Secondary Teacher

 

This is a .571 FTE temporary appointment for the second semester effective January 29, 2018 to June 30, 2018.  This assignment is to be worked and paid at 1.0FTE.

 

The assignment consists of two blocks of teaching Français Langue 9, one block teaching Français Langue 10 and one block teaching Spanish 10 at Salmon Arm Secondary at the Jackson Campus.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Education (Secondary emphasis preferred);
  • valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.

 

Teachers applying must possess the following attributes:

  • fully bilingual in French and English;

  • ability to speak, read and write in Spanish;

  • academic credentials and/or experience in teaching Français Langue and Spanish;

  • a working knowledge of the current curriculum for Français Langue and Spanish;

  • demonstrated successful experience teaching Français Langue and Spanish at Secondary level;

  • well-versed in and ability to integrate francophone culture in classroom activities;

  • ability to encourage the use of the French language as the mode of communication in the classroom and to integrate the language into real life situations;

  • commitment to fostering a collaborative and cooperative working environment;

  • committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;

  • evidence of ability to motivate secondary students;

  • demonstrated use of a variety of instructional and assessment strategies;

  • excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with other staff members;

  • commitment to involving parents in the learning of their children.
