The School District
As a result of the retirement of the incumbent, the Board of Education is seeking an exceptional educational leader for the position of Superintendent of Schools/CEO effective August 1, 2020.
School District No. 78 (Fraser-Cascade) encompasses the communities of Agassiz, Harrison Hot Springs, Hope and Boston Bar. The District is honoured to work and learn on the traditional ancestral and unceded shared territories of the Stó:lō and Nlaka’pamux people.
We are a results-oriented learning community that is focused on student learning and achievement. Teamwork, outstanding working relationships among all employee groups and partners are hallmarks of the district. The dedication of staff and the support of the Board is evident in all we do.
In cooperation with the community, we promote an educational environment that fosters a love of learning, personal integrity, a strong self-concept and respect for the dignity of others, encouraging each student to reach their potential.
The District has nine schools and works cooperatively with many local agencies to provide a broad range of services and opportunities for our 1700 students.
The Board works collaboratively with an outstanding Aboriginal Education Council, striving to enhance the achievement of its 640 Indigenous students. This work is supported by 12 Local Education Agreements.
The district has an operating budget for 2019/20 of $28,000,000 and employs approximately 400 staff.
