Position Description

A temporary part time (0.5) intermediate teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.  The assignment will be at Hudson's Hope Elementary/Jr. Secondary School.

Hudson’s Hope School is a close community composed of students ages 0 years to grade twelve.  Many of our students enjoy their entire educational experience with the same peer group over their time at HHS. The age range within the school allows for incredible inter-generational teaching and learning experiences for our students. Our school is nestled in the Peace River valley, within walking distance of the Peace River, and a short drive to the School District’s Cameron Lake Outdoor Education Center. Qualifications and Experience

  •  Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)

  • Desire and passion to work with our school team

  •  Training for and experience teaching intermediate age students

  •  Experience teaching in a multi-age group setting

  •  Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students

  •  Experience in effective team teaching in collaborative teaching environments

  •  Ability to use programs incorporating balanced literacy, guided reading, blended/structured writing

  •  Experience with and commitment to using individualized and group instruction with a variety of effective strategies,  techniques,  and resources

  •  Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all children to learn

  •  Experience working with children with special needs

  •  Training and experience teaching ELL, ASD, and FASD students

  •  Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individual plans (IEPs, LSPs, BIPs, AIPs) for students with academic,  social and emotional learning difficulties

  •  Ability to use performance standards in all areas

  •  Awareness of the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the new curriculum

  •  Working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance Based Assessment

  •  Experience with teaching self-regulation strategies in the classroom

  •  Experience/training/knowledge of Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS)

  •  Excellent technology skills

  •  Three (3) references

  •  Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) 



  • $2,000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4,000 for teachers from other areas.

  • $2,622 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)

  • Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $50,623 - $95,897

  • Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.

  • Isolation allowance of $614.40 paid over 10 months
