Aboriginal Education Worker - Relief Roster

School District No. 73 is currently accepting applications for the Aboriginal Education Worker (AEW) Relief roster, with the possibility of an appointment to a position in the 2023/2024 school year.

Aboriginal Education Workers provide assistance and support to either individual or groups of Aboriginal students. The successful applicants will be of Aboriginal Ancestry and have a thorough knowledge of applicable Aboriginal culture, tradition and issues, both historical and contemporary.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. Education Assistant and Community Support Certificate)
• Two (2) years proven previous work experience working with children, preferably of Aboriginal ancestry.
• Valid B.C. Driver's License.
• Aboriginal language skills and previous experience supporting the Aboriginal community would be an asset.

The successful incumbent(s) must be willing to travel to our outlying communities while on relief.
