Heiltsuk Language Teacher

BBCS has approximately 200 students and a full staff from K4 – 12. The graduation rate is over 80% with the school being the center of many activities that involve students and parents in events intended to enhance culture.
The Bella Bella School Board is seeking a dynamic educator with the training and experience to be able to provide a strong Heiltsuk language program. The candidate may have or be eligible for BC Teacher's certification and be able to begin work on Sept 1, 2017. The candidate may also have a background and fluency with the language and be eligible to apply for a letter of permission from the Ministry of Education.
The successful applicant will engage staff, parents and the community at large in a collaborative effort to enhance student success at Bella Bella Community School to prepare its 200 K4- 12 students for a successful transition from graduation to post-secondary school.
The successful applicant will engage in a professional learning community with FNSA and as a member of BBCS will focus on Heiltsuk Language literacy while ensuring that key components of the mission statement are integral to professional practice and community traditions.
The successful applicant must be willing to engage students in extra-curricular activities outside of school hours.

Two categories:May be eligible for BC Teacher's certification and be able to begin work on Sept 1, 2017 or the candidate may have a background and fluency with the language and be eligible to apply for a letter of permission from the Ministry of Education.
Able/willing to teach primary classes.
- Willing to work with the FNSA coach and as a department member on effective planning, instruction, and assessment.
