School District No. 83 is current seeking:

POSITION VACANCY: Vice-Principal Pool

In anticipation of upcoming openings, School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) is inviting applications for a vice-principal pool competition. Successful candidates will be eligible for assignment to a suitable vice-principal position at one of our elementary, middle, or secondary schools within the next twenty-four months.

Our district serves 6100 students in 22 schools and a variety of alternate programs located around Shuswap Lake and the North Okanagan. We are also proud to include four First Nations bands among our communities. One elementary, one middle, and one secondary school are dual-track, offering Early and Late French Immersion. The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District engages all learners in quality experiences to develop their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and creativity in the pursuit of excellence. 


The vice-principal provides leadership and support for all manner of educational and operational activities in the school environment.  The successful candidate should possess:

  • a minimum of five years of exemplary teaching experience

  • a completed Master’s Degree, or be in progress towards attaining one

  • evidence of leadership extending beyond the classroom

  • a strong understanding of principles of learning, assessment and evaluation, and confidence navigating British Columbia’s renewed curriculum

  • familiarity with restorative student behaviour practices

  • proficiency in regard to communication and conflict resolution strategies

  • strong leadership, teambuilding, and organizational skills

  • experience using technology to enhance effectiveness, student learning, and productivity

  • proven ability to work with parents and the community

  • high energy level, integrity, and sense of humour
