The School: CCSSS, in its 7th year of operation, is housed within the campus of a large Chinese school, Changchun Shiyi Secondary School, that enrols about 4000 grades 10 to 12 students. CCSSS, a British Columbia curriculum school certified by the BC Ministry of Education, enrols about 110 students in grades 10 to 12. Four BC certified teachers and a teaching Principal and Vice Principal are employed at CCSSS. The school is well resourced with textbooks and supporting materials to meet the needs of all courses offered. Classrooms are equipped with wifi, computers and projectors. The school contains a BC library and computer labs, and has access to fully equipped science labs, a gym and playing fields.
The school is in session from September to June. Holiday periods include a National Holiday week in October and up to 5 weeks of holiday for Chinese Spring Festival in January/February. This long holiday is unique to Changchun as schools in the city close during the coldest weeks of winter. The BC school day consists of six 40-minute classes and typically begins at 7:30 a.m. and finishes at 4:00 p.m. with a 2-hour mid-day break.
The campus is located conveniently near transportation and shopping. A new subway will open soon with a stop at the front doors of the campus.

Changchun is located in the north and enjoys a cleaner environment and a better air quality than many of the major cities in China. With a culture centred on food and sharing, the area is noted for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The city’s many Post-Secondary institutions give the “Chun” the feel of a bustling college town full of youthful energy.
Changchun’s climate is similar to that of the Interior of BC. Summers are warm and conducive to enjoying the many beautiful parks; local folks habitually dance, sing, and make music in public areas. Street food stalls and vendor kiosks selling a wide variety of products add to the exotic feel of the city.
