 Surrey School District 36

Surrey School District (“Surrey Schools”) is the largest district in British Columbia with over 74,000 students, 12,000 employees and an annual operating and capital budget of over $900 million. Typically growing by approximately 1,000 students per year, Surrey Schools is dedicated to their vision for learning which is termed Learning by Design where we believe that teachers are the designers of engaging and inclusive learning environments that serve all children.

With over 130 kindergarten to Grade 12 schools and serving Surrey, White Rock and the rural area of Barnston Island, Surrey Schools delivers a wide range of education and support programs with a mandate of preparing all learners to think creatively and critically, communicate skillfully and demonstrate care for self and others.

Reporting to the Superintendent/CEO, the Secretary-Treasurer will be responsible for ensuring key school resources are optimally and effectively allocated, in pursuit of the district’s vision for Learning by Design. The Secretary-Treasurer working closely with the Board of Education is a critical member of the leadership team and ensuring the District can fulfill its mandate of effective governance and responsible management of financial and business affairs.

The Secretary-Treasurer will bring a university degree or post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline, combined with a professional accounting designation (CPA).
