Basic Responsibilities:

Seeking energetic, PYP trained teacher for a highly unique school in a rural setting in the Southern Okanagan. Senpaq’cin is a First Nations Authorized Primary Years Program International Baccalaureate World School. The role of the IB Primary Year’s Teacher is to build and maintain a successful inquiry program within the school through a collaborative atmosphere that supports student agency.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing, preparing, implementing, reflecting, evaluating and reporting learning experiences that align with BC Curriculum and the IB PYP curriculum framework;
  • Creating differentiated learning experiences to meet the learning needs of the students within the classroom environment;
  • Providing opportunity for student-initiated action from deep exploration of inquiry lessons;
  • Collaborating with other teachers to share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledge;
  • Communicating accurately, regularly and meaningfully with families of students;
  • Contributing to the extra-curricular programmes offered within the school environment;
  • Collaborating with Second Language Team to integrate First Nations Language and Culture into the program of inquiry and daily instructional practice where applicable;
  • Willingness to understand and implement trauma informed strategies to support the emotional health of student population

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch Certification
  • Experience working a First Nations school environment a strong asset
  • Willingness to learn the Okanagan Language alongside students
  • Clean Criminal Record Check
  • Current TB test

Other Related Employment Information: Candidate must have excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with others, is a solution-based problem solver, and has strong organization skills.

Pay Rate

Based on School District 53 Salary grid
