Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and successfully completed the Okanagan College Certified Education Assistant program or an equivalent course, and should have at least six months' experience in a similar position.
The school-based CEA will assist with and support student(s) by working together in a team environment under the Resource Teacher, tutor students, modify and prepare specialized teaching materials, compile and update student records and monitor student behaviour.
The school-based CEA may be asked to transport and accompany students as described in the IEP(s) and as covered by school district Field Trip Policy. Some of these activities may include swimming, hiking, skiing, etc.
The school-based CEA may be required to assist with lifting, feeding, personal care (toileting) and supervision for special needs students in the school as requested by Principal and/or Resource Teacher.
