Temporary Senior Accountant
Bring Your Broad Range of Accounting & Business Management Skills to a Multi-Faceted Senior Accounting Role
Being able to precisely and reliably manage a broad range of accounting responsibilities, meet strict deadlines, and work with a variety of stakeholders are key skills you bring to the role of Senior Accountant.
In this role, you are responsible for the processing, analyzing, monitoring, and reconciling of complex financial information ensuring the School District’s compliance with policies and regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), provincial statutes, Ministry of Education directives, and other internal and external reporting requirements.
Your range of responsibilities includes assistance in preparing monthly reconciliations, forecasts, annual budgets, and financial statements. You will also provide timely financial reports and budget information to District Staff, government agencies, and the public.
As a natural problem solver and collegial colleague, you will work closely with School District Staff resolving accounting and budgeting issues, reporting discrepancies, and compliance issues. You will be an invaluable source of expertise and knowledge in providing assistance and training to staff on accounting tasks and procedures, and accounting software.
Other duties may include logging journal entries, processing reimbursement claims, administrating accounts payable/receivable, and managing complex general ledger accounts. Additionally, you will update policies and procedures to ensure best practices are followed.
Having extensive accounting knowledge, you possess an undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce or Finance, or a two-year Accounting Diploma from a recognized educational institution. You may also have an accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA) or have completed the equivalent of the prerequisite preparatory courses for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program. This is a full-time temporary position with an end date of May 11, 2019, or on the date of incumbent’s return. This is a unionized CUPE position with the rate of pay of $30.97/hr.
Adept in modern accounting software, you are proficient in using computerized accounting software and Microsoft Office applications. This is a wide-ranging role calling for an experienced accounting professional and organized problem solver who can work in an environment dedicated to best practices in the accounting management field.
