Position Description
A temporary part time (0.2) primary teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective immediately until return of the incumbent but not beyond June 30, 2021. The assignment will be at Baldonnel School.
Baldonnel Elementary School is a rural K-6 school located 15 minutes from Fort St John and midway between Fort St John and the community of Taylor. The school has a student population of 140 students, 28% of whom are Indigenous students. Our school has a staffing complement of 18 very dedicated and collegial individuals. District Itinerant Staff provide a range of services to our school. Our students also participate in the District elementary sports programs, District Band program, and the District Gifted and Enrichment program. Qualifications and Experience
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
- Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
- Experience and/or training in teaching at the primary level.
- Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning, Positive School Culture, Healthy Schools and Sense of Belonging.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Cognizant of the learning outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in provincial curriculum.
- Cognizant of the Core Competencies in the new BC Curriculum.
- Experience
or knowledge of Balanced Literacy, Guided Reading, Literacy Assessment,
Differentiated Instruction, Math Makes Sense, Power of Ten, Math
Manipulatives, Criterion Referenced Performance Based Assessment,
Assessment For Learning.
- Strong familiarity with district Literacy and Math assessments including: Cold Write, PM Benchmarks, QCA, RAD's and MAP's.
- Supportive of school planning and directions.
- Experience planning
with Teachers and Education Assistants and a willingness to work in a
collaborative model regarding curriculum, assessment, instruction and
planning.
- Ability
to work as a part of a team to develop and implement individualized
learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional and
physical learning disabilities and adjust to the needs of the students.
- Ability to differentiate instruction, scaffold, and support to meet the varying needs of all learners.
- Experience and/or training related to working with children with specific needs; including ELL, FASD, ASD.
- Ability/desire to work collaboratively with students and parents.
- Willingness
to work in a collaborative model with the school community to support
the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning document (school plan).
- Commitment to professional development.
- Willingness
to collaborate, plan and co-facilitate curriculum development,
professional development opportunities and inservices linked to school
goals for enhancing student learning for staff and parents.

Compensation
- $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
- $2,622 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
- Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $48,657 - $91,278
- Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
