Job Description & Requirements

Elementary itinerant counsellor working as part of the District Learning Support Services team. 


Education & Experience 

  • Master’s Degree in Counselling with a counselling practicum relevant to the school environment  

  • Experience as a school counsellor at the Elementary level  

  • Training in violence, threat, risk assessment (VTRA) and Suicide Risk Assessment 

  • Demonstrated experience with case management and IEP development preferred 

  • Eligible for B.C. Certification 

  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports 



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with community agencies regarding programs available to youth 

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of School Based and Integrated Case Management teams

  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies. 

  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives 

  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students 

  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in our ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
