Job Description & Requirements

The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (the CISVA) operates 47 schools – 40 elementary and seven high schools. Our footprint extends over 250 kilometres, from Powell River in the west to Chilliwack in the east.

We are a culturally diverse faith-based family. We offer more than a place of work – we provide a call to your teaching vocation where you can work and live your faith in a supportive community. Many of our current teachers and principals are products of our school system – former graduates from the CISVA who continue to grow their spiritual and professional journey with us.

We are a vibrant school system with many school and program expansion projects in the future. We offer spiritual and professional growth and mentorship opportunities for new teachers to help them with their transition into the CISVA.

St. John Paul II Academy opened its doors in the South Surrey area in Sept. 2018 to one Gr. 8 class and 5 staff. It has since grown to 3 Grade levels and will be in its new building, in 2022, located at 184th and 24th Ave in Surrey.
We are very excited about our future.

St. John Paul II Academy, a relatively new CISVA high school located currently out of the Star of the Sea Parish Centre, is looking for a full-time, Gr. 8, 9, 10 English and Social Studies teacher for the 2020-21 school year.

The ability to teach Drama would be an asset and as would be a willingness to be involved in the extra-curricular life of the school. This dynamic and enthusiastic individual would join a small, but dedicated team of teachers in our strong faith and learning community and would have good working knowledge of the new BC high school curriculum.
