Teaching in British Columbia - French Immersion and Francophone Teachers Needed

Career Opportunities

BC’s Francophone schools and 50 school districts operating K-12 early and late French immersion programs are hiring. There are full-time and on-call teaching opportunities in various settings, from larger cities like Vancouver, Victoria, and Kelowna to smaller communities like Qualicum Beach, Nelson and Prince Rupert.

Teaching positions are available in school districts throughout British Columbia. They can include continuing and/or term-specific contracts, teachers-teaching-on-call (TTOC) and district-on-call roles.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bilingual fluency in French and English (for French immersion positions – excellent written and oral communication skills in both)
  • Native like French fluency (for opportunities in BC’s Francophone school board)
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent at the elementary or secondary level
  • Eligibility for a BC teaching certificate
  • A successful criminal record check
  • Strong understanding of and ability to follow the BC curriculum
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, history and communities and a willingness to integrate Indigenous content and resources into educational programs
  • Demonstrated strong classroom management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology as a tool to enhance and support learning, reporting, and communicating with the school community
  • Ability to adapt curriculum, programs, and instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Ability to provide a learning environment where all aspects of a student’s development are enhanced and extended
  • Ability to communicate and interact respectfully with parents, students, and other teaching staff
  • Strong dedication to the work and an interest in participating collaboratively in a professional community
