Mulgrave is looking for a driven, dynamic, and collaborative dance educator to provide dance education for students across grades K-10 as part of our formal curriculum, and support a range of elective and co-curricular programming. The successful candidate will have extensive experience not only as a dancer and a choreographer, but as a dance teacher and educator. The candidate will work collaboratively with our Physical Health Education (PHE) and Performing Arts (PA) teams to offer an inspiring programme of dance instruction across our multi-grade campus. Mulgrave has a brand new purpose built dance studio opening in August 2021.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
Create a supportive learning environment for students that incorporates technology, and encourages inquiry.
Utilize a variety of effective teaching, classroom management and assessment practices in support of student achievement.
Experience and knowledge of many dance genres, including traditional dance styles from around the world
Document students’ performance, providing feedback and advice outside of class, practice and rehearsal times.
Maintain effective communication with parents, colleagues, students and various school leaders.
Develop and oversee a range of co-curricular programming which engages and inspires students and cultivates a strong sense of community.
Qualifications:
Candidates will be expected to have or acquire:
Canadian residency or be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Valid BC teaching certificate.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization or focus in dance.
Knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate programmes.
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment.
Fluent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
