Position Description

A temporary part-time (0.2) prep teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective February 5 2018 to June 30, 2018.  The assignment will be at Wonowon Elementary School.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)

  • Experience teaching primary and intermediate age students

  • Ability to use performance standards in the area of social responsibility

  • Cognizant of the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the Provincial Curriculum

  • Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques

  • Experience teaching in a multiage group setting

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Training in teaching ELL students

  • Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional learning difficulties

  • Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement plan and with professional development

  • Working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, and Blended/structured writing process 

Interested applicants are required to supply

  •  Three (3) references

  •  Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) 

 

Compensation

  • $700 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $1000 for teachers from other areas.

  • $2,430 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)

  • Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $46,026 to 88,029

  • Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enrol in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.

  • Subsidized and affordable staff housing for rural positions. 

  • Isolation allowance of $952.30 paid over 10 months.
