Working for the Surrey School District, ABA Support Workers assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of special education programs and services, by providing specific assistance to students with autism spectrum disorders. This can be through the collection and evaluation of data to track student progress, providing personal care assistance (dressing, toileting, feeding, and or mobility), and fostering independence to help ensure the student is working at a meaningful instructional level.
As an employee of the School District, you would be expected to support the student you are assigned to, in addition to any other required duties as needed.
All successful applicants are required to join the CUPE Union Local 728. As per the CUPE collective agreement, the starting wage for this position is $27.02 per hour with an attractive benefit package also available.
Qualifications and Experience
ABA Support Workers must have completed 1000 hours of in-home training (250 hours must be focused on discrete trial teaching) in an intensive applied behavioural analysis home program. Such training must be supervised and assessed by a qualified ABA Behavioural Consultant.
- Completion of recognized ABA Support Worker Program
- Those who have not yet completed the program must commit to completing within 2 years of employment
