The Langley School District invites applications for a Payroll Supervisor. This is a full time (35 hours/week) position reporting to the Manager, Payroll & Benefits. This individual ensures the efficient daily operation of the Payroll Department and performs a variety of duties pertaining to the preparation and distribution of all district payrolls.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Supervises payroll employees including planning, organizing, assigning, scheduling, and coordinating of work.
Inputs and retrieves data including those related to new employees, changes in employee status, hours worked, etc.
Performs functions necessary to run payrolls, including editing and balancing batches, running payroll processing programs, updating payroll system history, system backups and Electronic Funds Transfer.
Reconciles general ledger accounts to payroll records and prepares remittances to Revenue Canada, benefit carriers, pension plans, unions, etc.
Prepares various reports on a periodic and annual basis such as pension reports, seniority lists, T-4 slips, WCB reports, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Good working knowledge of legislation and regulations relative to payroll including Employment Standards, U.I.C., CPP, WCB, income tax, employee benefit plans and Collective Agreements.
Rate of pay: $30.77 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package
