(SEAs) are in high demand and there are many opportunities in our growing
community. Working with a team in a supportive environment, SEAs build strong
connections with students to enhance their academic and social/emotional growth
SEAs work collaboratively with teachers and other
professionals and para-professionals assisting with implementation of individual
education programs, learning and behavioural support, personal care and a
variety of other duties. Once hired as casual employees, SEAs can apply as

The Langley School District has a lot to offer. We operate

completed Special Education Assistant programs elsewhere and have school-based
Grade 12 graduation and possession of a Special
Education Teacher Assistant Certificate, or an equivalent combination of
training and experience.
Completion of the Provincial Outreach Program
for Autism and Related Disorders Training on Autism Spectrum Disorders and
Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Ability to be flexible to meet the varying
academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of students.
Emergency First Aid Certificate desirable
including sufficient medical knowledge to effectively cope with seizures.
Ability to interact with the students in an
Ability to communicate effectively using tact,
discretion and diplomacy in contacts of a difficult or specialized nature.
Ability to determine, judge and select
appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and
