Applications are being accepted for the position of
(Temporary) Educational Interpreter
Under the general supervision of the Principal, the Educational Interpreter will provide interpreting for deaf and hard of hearing students, classmates and educational staff in order to support students in their school activities and their Individual Education Plans. Applicants must have:
Completion of 2 and up to 3 years of post secondary education in Visual Language Skills (Signed English and/or ASL and/or Sign Supported Speech and/or Cued Speech) and Deaf Studies at Vancouver Community College or equivalent education and experience as individual positions require.
A demonstrated fluency in ASL and/or Signed Exact English and/or Cued Speech and/or sign supported speech, oral Interpreting as required by the position
Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position
More than 6 months experience at providing communication facilitation
A swimming certificate and be willing to enter the pool with student as required
