Maintenance Service Technician
A skilled jack-of-all-trades is needed at North Vancouver School District 44 as the Maintenance Service Technician. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and under the direction of the Service Centre Manager and Maintenance Coordinators, you will execute a variety of basic maintenance tasks to ensure that the District’s building systems and equipment are operating safely and efficiently to ensure a comfortable environment exists for our learning community.
This full-time CUPE position is a variety-filled role requiring you to repair, replace, and adjust building systems and components, including the maintenance of HVAC and water filtration systems and equipment. You will also perform a variety of minor plumbing, lighting fixture, and non-wiring electrical maintenance. Furthermore, you may be asked to repair, replace and make adjustments to door hardware, ceiling tiles, window mechanisms, etc. Moreover, occasionally, you will also be asked to apply sealants, caulking, lubricants, spackle, primer, and touch-up paint.
Working in the maintenance department, you will track inventory, your work and report issues requiring trades support utilising the District’s CMMS System to ensure all routine and preventative maintenance tasks are completed promptly.
As a skilled technician, you have a mechanical aptitude for using tools and completing maintenance. Your qualifications include a high school diploma, four years of related experience, and a class 5 BC driver’s license. What makes you an ideal candidate is your communication skills, commitment to customer service, and ability to work independently and with others. In addition, you may also have WHMIS, Lockout Training, HAZMAT, 5th Class Power Engineers Certification; Building Automation and Direct Digital Controls knowledge, Man Lift certification, Fall Arrest Training, or a BOMA systems maintenance technician’s course.
