TEMPLETON COMMUNITY SCHOOL TEAM

KIDS FIRST - PROGRAM LEADER

 

Position Overview:

The Vancouver School Board’s Templeton Community Schools Team is currently seeking a part-time Program Leader to support vulnerable elementary students during out of school time in schools located in Hastings-Sunrise. Our large, urban and multicultural school district provides programs to over 50,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and over 2,000 adults in adult education programs. Serving our diverse district in 110 facility sites, our programs and services are designed to address both complex challenges and extraordinary opportunities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and leadership to students participating in Kids First after-school program at Hastings Elementary School
  • Assists in planning and implementation of social‐recreational programming
  • Prepare program supplies and materials
  • Supervise secondary age volunteers (13-18 years) and child participants (6-12 years)
  • Ensure programming is operating at a high quality standard (i.e. safe, engaging and inclusive) and aligns with program goals

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 12
  • Experience working with school-aged children and secondary school students
  • Strong organizational, leadership and group management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and multitask
  • Positive attitude, patient and reliable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge building resiliency in children and youth
  • HIVE FIVE certification or willingness to obtain
  • First Aid and CPR-C certification (current) or willingness to obtain
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete and pass a criminal record check (cost $28)

 

Remuneration and Hours:

This position offers an hourly wage of $13.85-$18.00/hr. depending on experience.

The role is active for the 2019-20 school year and will be 3.5 – 17.5 hours per week depending on availability, operational needs and experience.
