NATURE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

This position involves working as a part of a collaborative team with our IB Middle Years and Senior Spanish Programs. It is expected that the successful candidate will be working with inquiry based learning and will be engaged with the MYP standards and practices, as well as with North Vancouver's Distributed Learning.  The assignment includes 0.857 FTE of Spanish and Careers Coordination at Carson Graham and 0.143 Careers 12 at Distributed Learning.  Careers is offered through North Vancouver Distributed Learning and is a "blended" course that allows for personal face-time with students and on-line communication and assignment completion. Teachers of Distributed Learning courses use their curriculum and technology expertise and passion to support students in an interactive, self-paced on-line environment. There will be an additional block of Careers Coordination at Carson that will span grades 8-12.

 

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor of Education Degree (Secondary), specializing in Spanish and Careers..

  • Successful experience teaching Spanish and Careers at the Secondary level.

  • Successful experience teaching in an IB Programme.

  • Embeds technology into instruction in meaningful and innovative ways

  • Adeptly uses the IB planning framework to ensure incorporation of the key elements of the programme

  • Is committed to professional collaboration – will meet regularly with the IB Programme Coordinator and colleagues to:

  • ensure adherence to the IB Programme Standards and Practices

  • plan and reflect on units of inquiry

  • conduct whole-staff reflections on development of the programme

  • Agrees to attend IB-sanctioned professional development 

  • Ensures all expectations set by the IBO concerning programmes and procedures are carried out accordingly and in a timely manner   

  • Assists with supervising students (Creativity, Action and Service, the Personal Project or Exhibition)

  • Participate in the self-study and programme reflections

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Possession of a BC Teaching Certificate

  • Membership in the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.

  • A member of the North Vancouver Teachers’ Association and the BC Teachers’ Federation.


SALARY & BENEFITS:

Earnings range from $46,091 - 89,018 per annum for full time work (pro-rated for part time), depending on the TQS category and experience level of the teacher.
