School District 91 is urgently seeking applications for a school based administrator to be assigned to as a Vice Principal of Lakes District Secondary School, Burns Lake, B.C.  Start date: November 1, 2017 or earlier if possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability as an effective learning leader and classroom teacher;
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in disciplinary strategies and interventions;
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal culture along with a successful history of working with Aboriginal communities;
  • Strong commitment to working with staff to embed Professional Learning Community knowledge, skills and dispositions in the school’s day to day professional practice, including routine teacher collaboration about student learning, and systemic intervention strategies as per the Response to Intervention model;
  • Demonstrated ability as a team-builder and team-player;
  • Awareness and sensitivity to current educational issues and the changing nature of instruction;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current research in literacy, numeracy and differentiated instruction;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues specific to formative and summative assessment strategies and practices;
  • Commitment to school/community involvement;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of computers and programs, i.e. MyEducation BC;
  • Knowledge of school contractual and budgetary matters; and
  • Completed, working on or committed to completing a Master's Degree in Curriculum or Education Administration.

     

    LAKES DISTRICT SECONDARY SCHOOL:

  • Approximately 359 FTE students (8-12); (45% Aboriginal students); 45 teaching and non-teaching staff members;
  • Located in Burns Lake, BC;
  • An active, involved Parent Advisory Council plays an important role in supporting and developing a healthy school community.
