The Vancouver Board of Education (VSB) welcomes applications for the position of:
 ** Elementary / Secondary Counsellors **
(2.0 FTE Continuing)


Counsellors are assigned to provide counselling services to several schools in each area of the district. Counsellors provide counselling services to either elementary or secondary students and their families, consultation to staff and parents and support for prevention programs in Personal Planning. As a member of a School Based team, the counsellor provides case management, consultation and liaison with programs and services in the district and community. 

  • Bachelor of Education
  • Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology - consisting of a practicum (Minimum 400 hours) as well as a supervised clinic (Minimum 40 hours), and/or successful counselling experience
  • Teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level is an asset
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in counselling children and consulting with school staff & parents
  • Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of programs & services for families in the district and community

    • Recent Graduates require final Practicum Evaluation(s) from a Master's of Counselling program
    • Experienced Teachers require a recent Teaching Evaluation (not lesson observations) within the past 8 years
  • 3 Professional References-email and phone numbers
    • Recent Graduates to include your Faculty Advisor, School Advisor(s), Practicum or Clinic Supervisor(s) and one or more of the following:  Principal, Vice principal or most recent previous employer
    • Experienced Teachers to include current Principal, Vice Principal and previous Administrator(s)
