Job Description & Requirements
 

Fort St John is located in beautiful Northern British Columbia, 478 km northeast of Prince George and 1,237 km north of Vancouver.  Fort St John is situated near neighboring Alberta, 214 km west of Grande Prairie, Alberta.

A temporary full-time (1.0) primary teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North). The assignment will be at Prespatou Elementary/Secondary School effective immediately until the return of the incumbent but not beyond June 30, 2017.

Qualifications and Attributes

The ideal candidate will have:

  • experience and skills teaching at the Primary level
  • strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • willing to work with team on common literacy in the classroom
  • willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals into classroom
  • experience/training/knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • collaboration and working with a team
  • ability to use performance standards in the all areas
  • cognizant of the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the provincial IRP's
  • strong computer related skills and an ability to integrate technology into the learning environment
  • experience or willingness to work with in a Project Based Learning environment
  • committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques
  • experience teaching in a multiage group setting
  • strong classroom management skills while maintaining student dignity
  • training in teaching ELL students
  • ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement plan and with professional development
  • working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment, Performance Based Assessment and Balanced Literacy
  • experience working with behavior students
  • valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
